Cathedral City Senior Center improves the lives of seniors across the valley by addressing food insecurity, senior isolation, loneliness, access to social services, health and wellness ensuring they remain social, connected, active and independent. Cathedral City Senior Center offers recreation, exercise, nutrition, wellness, social opportunities, social services, transportation, and cultural and educational experiences that prevent isolation and promote independence, healthy living, and quality of live for older people, adults and caregivers. Healthy bodies and minds combined with friends and fun reduces isolation and promotes independence, allowing for aging in place. Cathedral City Senior Center is a one-stop resource center with more than 600 members who might refer to the Senior Center as their home away from home. We work closely with other agencies and social workers to provide much needed resources to our community in a place where our members feel comfortable. We don't age here, we thrive here. Cathedral City Senior Center promotes healthy living, independence, and wellness by stimulating the body and mind in an open-minded and inclusive environment. Testimonials Tom was left unemployed in 2019 and decided to take early retirement after failing to find work. He became increasingly isolated and depressed, until he received an email from the Cathedral City Senior Center, which was re-opening post-pandemic. After attending a volunteer recruitment meeting, he began volunteering at the front desk one day a week. Tom took on additional tasks and shifts, and now puts in around 30 hours per week as a volunteer staff member. He assists with front desk duties, bingo calling, basket weaving, program creation, and data gathering and reporting. Tom feels fulfilled by helping others and making a difference in his community, and is grateful for the center's role in giving him a renewed sense of purpose.
