The desert’s place at the national table

It is worth stating plainly because of what the seat signals. A giving campaign asking a business for $50,000, or asking a nonprofit to commit its December to registering, is asking to be trusted. Sitting on the national council is one of the few pieces of evidence that travels — it is a judgement made about CV Giving Day by people outside the Valley.

A pattern, not a coincidence

In the Coachella Valley, giving happens on Tuesdays

GivingTuesday falls on a Tuesday. So does every milestone in the CV Giving Day calendar — registration, early giving, and the Day itself, each the first Tuesday of its month. That is the real link between the two: not a campaign we borrow, but the same rhythm.

The season

Thanksgiving to the New Year is when giving is on people’s minds

GivingTuesday is the moment the whole country thinks about generosity at once — the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, at the front of the holiday season. Very little of that attention converts into local giving here, and we do not pretend otherwise.

What it does give the Valley is a season in which philanthropy is a normal thing to talk about. We use it that way: to make the case for giving locally, to put Coachella Valley nonprofits in front of people while they are already thinking about it, and to carry that attention forward to March.

Two different days

GivingTuesday is global. CV Giving Day is ours.

They are separate events and they are not in competition. GivingTuesday is worldwide, on December 1. CV Giving Day is Tuesday, March 2, 2027 — with four weeks of early giving from February 2, prizes funded by Valley sponsors, and every dollar going to a Coachella Valley nonprofit.
