Testimonials
Tom was left unemployed in 2019 and decided to take early retirement after failing to find work. He became increasingly isolated and depressed, until he received an email from the Cathedral City Senior Center, which was re-opening post-pandemic. After attending a volunteer recruitment meeting, he began volunteering at the front desk one day a week. Tom took on additional tasks and shifts, and now puts in around 30 hours per week as a volunteer staff member. He assists with front desk duties, bingo calling, basket weaving, program creation, and data gathering and reporting. Tom feels fulfilled by helping others and making a difference in his community, and is grateful for the center's role in giving him a renewed sense of purpose.
