Animal Samaritans is dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people. Animal Samaritans believes in the healing power of animal-human connections and views all living creatures with compassion and respect, with a primary focus on dogs, cats, and the people who love them. Our no-kill shelter is a refuge for at-risk, adoptable dogs and cats. We house, feed & water, socialize, and provide medical care for these animals until we match them with their new humans and new forever homes. Adopt one today! We provide quality, affordable full-service standard veterinary care from our medical facilities in Indio and Thousand Palms. We offer financial aid for qualifying low-income pet owners. We provide state-accredited, grade-appropriate humane education to all our Desert schools, at no cost to students or schools. Our Animal Companion Therapy program utilizes the healing power of animal-human connection and provides free animal visits to residents of area nursing homes and assisted living facilities, special needs facilities, and area hospitals. Testimonials "I volunteer with the ACT program because I have seen the joy it brings to elderly residents in Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Memory Care. As a former Critical Care/ICU Nurse. I've also seen the difference it makes in a patient's heart rate and blood pressure. I also like going to the High Schools and seeing the excited screams and joy it has brought to a bad day some of them were having. The dog that I currently have in the program benefits from it also as she loves kids and adults and she actually looks like she's smiling with all the attention." - Becky "The Animal Samaritans foster program gives life to cats and dogs that may not have a chance to survive. The program provides shelter, food, medical care, and much-needed socialization to forgotten animals. The goal is to prepare them to get adopted through the shelter. Sara has done an excellent job at organizing the volunteers and supporting all types of issues one may encounter. The volunteers are well-trained and supported through the program. The hearts of the volunteers are huge; offering a temporary home to give these animals a place to grow, thrive, and receive love. Animals cared for through the Animal Samaritans foster care program are better candidates for adoption and placement in their forever home." - Jackie Fenson
About this page โ why it exists, and what it does (and doesn't) do
This profile is provided by CV Giving Day โ an initiative of Desert Community Foundation โ as a benefit of participating in the Valley's day of giving. It makes Animal Samaritans easy for AI assistants to find, understand, and recommend as more people research their giving through agents. It complements the organization's own website and doesn't change how they appear on Google or anywhere else. Run a Valley nonprofit? Organization information is based on CV Giving Day registration records and public IRS records.
What “verified” means: Identity confirmed against IRS records. Participation confirmed against CV Giving Day registration. Public information compiled from the organization's own sources. Organizations that have indicated a preference against search indexing on their CV Giving Day registration are excluded from search indexing and from this site's sitemap. A cause may come from the organization's own category selection, from its IRS classification, or from CV Giving Day review; the source is always stated on the page and in this record.
