What Claude for Nonprofits now includes, and what it means for a small Coachella Valley organization
November 6, 2026 ยท CV Giving Day
On October 26, 2026, Anthropic announced an update to Claude for Nonprofits, the program it launched in December 2025 with GivingTuesday. Anthropic says more than 25,000 nonprofits now use Claude, and more than three-quarters of them have fewer than 10 seats. That is the size of organization this update is built around.
This note covers what is included, what it costs, what to check before you sign up, and what CV Giving Day is offering nonprofits that register.
What's new
The headline is a plugin: 14 skills built with about 30 nonprofits. A skill is a packaged set of instructions that teaches Claude how to do a nonprofit task the way your organization does it. The 14 fall into four groups:
- Organization knowledge: a map of where your records live, a voice guide, and answers checked against your own AI policy.
- Marketing: campaign planning, content review and decks.
- Team: job posts, interview guides, onboarding plans, HR policy answers and board recruitment.
- Fundraising: funder and grant research, proposal writing, grant reporting, and donor and funder relations.
Anthropic says the plugin installs automatically for verified nonprofits on its Team and Enterprise plans, at no extra cost. The connectors announced in December, which link Claude to Blackbaud, Candid and Benevity, are part of the program too.
What it costs and who qualifies
Nonprofit pricing is open to registered 501(c)(3) organizations. Anthropic lists its Team plan at $8 per user per month for nonprofits, with a minimum of two users and a maximum of 150. Prices are listed before tax and can change. A nonprofit verifies its status through a partner, Goodstack, which Anthropic says takes two to three minutes. Larger organizations go through Anthropic's sales team for an Enterprise plan.
Before you sign up
- Decide what goes in. Anthropic's commercial terms say it may not train models on customer content from its services. That covers what your team types in. It does not decide what your organization should share. Donor records and client information still need your own rules, and the first step is a written AI policy. Our October piece on why few nonprofits have an AI playbook is a place to start.
- Treat the output as a draft. A person should check every number, name and claim before it goes to a funder or a donor.
- Compare. Other AI companies offer nonprofit programs too, and many Coachella Valley nonprofits already use ChatGPT or Gemini. Claude is one option.
- Start with one workflow. Pick a single task, such as a thank-you note or a grant report, and try it for a month before you decide.
Help beyond the software
Anthropic is also expanding Claude Corps, which places early-career fellows inside nonprofits. Its stated plan is 1,000 fellows in at least 400 U.S. nonprofits, plus short pro bono projects through the Taproot Foundation. It offers a free course, AI Fluency for Nonprofits, built with GivingTuesday and available through Anthropic Academy. Anthropic is also hosting two 45-minute webinars, both at 10 a.m. Pacific. An Admin's Guide to Data Handling and AI Policy is on November 10, and A Staff Guide to Making Claude Useful on Day One is on November 12. You sign up on each page.
For CV Giving Day nonprofits
Owning a tool and knowing how to use it are different things. Nonprofits that register for CV Giving Day 2027 can attend a free, in-person AI training hosted by CV Giving Day. It covers setting up Claude for a small team, including memory and Projects, and the AI Fluency framework behind Anthropic's course. It is useful whichever assistant your team already uses. The training is free; your organization brings its own AI account. Dates and sign-up details are still to be determined and will be announced.

Disclosure: the training uses free training materials from Anthropic, which Anthropic allows anyone to use. Anthropic did not pay for or review this note or the training.
