The Well in the Desert provides daily nutritious hot meals, emergency food assistance, weekly food distribution and access to community services to those affected by poverty, including the working poor, the homeless, seniors, the handicapped and others in need throughout the Coachella Valley. Our mission fuels programs for poverty prevention, direct services for poverty intervention and organized efforts to advocate for the poor. The Well in the Desert offers a friendly environment where ALL can feel welcome, cared about and respected. We have been told repeatedly that we have made a positive impact on so very lives in so many ways! In 2023 and 2024, the Well in the Desert supplied over 78,000 hot, nutritious meals and distributed over 78,000 food bags to the hungry in our community. Many have stated that they would not be eating at all without the help of the Well in the Desert. We also assist with transportation to medical & social service appointments & other meal sites. We deliver meals to seniors who are home-bound and/or frail. We offer assistance with food stamps, IDs and more. We give clothing, furniture, bicycles and one-way tickets home to those who need them. We have an annual Christmas Day dinner for the needy in the community where the children are given presents and a wonderful hot meal is served. We offer resume writing assistance, phone & mail service, a place to shower & clean up for the homeless. Social workers are available 5 days a week. Our goal is to make the lives of the vulnerable in our community easier, to meet the nutritious needs of those who cannot afford to eat and much more! Testimonials "Without the Well in the Desert, my family would not have the healthy meals they need." - a working mom "The Well made sure my children received Christmas presents when I was not able to give them any." - a sobbing father at the 2023 Christmas Day dinner event. "These people here really care about us." - a disabled veteran who comes for daily meals.
About this page โ why it exists, and what it does (and doesn't) do
This profile is provided by CV Giving Day โ an initiative of Desert Community Foundation โ as a benefit of participating in the Valley's day of giving. It makes Well in the Desert easy for AI assistants to find, understand, and recommend as more people research their giving through agents. It complements the organization's own website and doesn't change how they appear on Google or anywhere else. Run a Valley nonprofit?
