Established in 1998, the Native American Land Conservancy (NALC) is an intertribal nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve, protect and restore sacred sites and lands, providing educational programming for Native American youth, families, and the public. NALC is involved in several advocacy efforts and volunteer initiatives to preserve cultural landscapes on both private and public lands, arranging volunteer events to help clean up and steward desert ecosystems. Led by Indigenous values, NALC also conducts scientific studies of cultural, biological, and historical resources. NALC now stewards 5 preserves in the Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial and Kern counties, with more acquisitions on the horizon. Through focused efforts in conservation, education, advocacy and pursuing avenues to support regional and national LandBack efforts, we aim to ensure a harmonious balance in our commitment to safeguarding the environment, preserving diverse ecosystems, fostering biodiversity, and cultivating a sustainable future for present and future generations.
