About Green Room Theatre Company

Now in its sixteenth successful season, Green Room Theatre Company Coachella Valley (GRTCCV) transforms lives and strengthens communities by bringing professional theatre directly to East Coachella Valley audiences. Our work includes professional plays, touring productions, Shakespeare, and immersive, site-specific performances—meeting people where they are. Equally central to our mission is education. GRTCCV provides children and youth with access to first-rate training in musical theatre, drama, and ballet folklórico, ensuring that no student is turned away due to inability to pay. Over the years, GRTCCV has produced award-winning projects at a wide range of venues, from large-scale youth musicals at the Indian Wells Theatre to Shakespeare and bold contemporary works for adult audiences at Barnes & Noble Palm Desert, the Coachella Valley Public Cemetery, Riverside County libraries, and La Quinta Brewing Company.  Covering cities from Coachella to Desert Hot Springs, and all in-between. Our upcoming Newish Shakespeare Festival starts in March with two excellent shows - American Moor & Como Te Gusta. Plays & Events – Green Room Theatre Company Your support makes this work possible. Every gift—large or small—directly impacts artists, students, and audiences: • $10 - provides a free ticket for a child whose family cannot afford one • $25 - purchases a traditional Jalisco-style hairpiece for a dancer in our children’s ballet folklórico troupe • $50 - covers a day’s pay for a college intern running sound or lighting for a performance • $100 - supplies stage makeup for the full cast of a Shakespeare production • $250 - funds American Sign Language interpretation (two interpreters per show) for a 90-minute performance • $500 - provides a full, need-based semester scholarship for one child in acting or dance classes • $1,000 - covers performance royalties for eight productions through Broadway Licensing • $5,000 - underwrites an entire touring performance, including transportation, lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, props, and fair pay for actors and technicians Together, we can continue bringing powerful theatre and transformative arts education to the communities that need it most. A review of our latest production - The Greenroom Theatre Company – Art imitating life with Orwell’s 1984 The Greenroom Theatre Company - Art imitating life with Orwell’s 1984 | Coachella Valley Weekly Testimonials "Our students that participated in Ballet Folklorico developed a growth mindset due to the consistent encouragement to do well, feeling fabulous about their heritage, and allowing students to express their individuality. Many parents shared their gratitude to Ballet Folklorico for motivating their children to learn new dance steps, for modeling traditions, and for a culminating activity that filled their hearts. Our students gained an experience they will never forget and cherish throughout their life. We look forward to working with Green Room Theatre and impacting the lives of many children in our school." - Daniel Martinez, Ed.D. Principal, Roosevelt Elementary School "I was introduced to GRTC many years ago and was most impressed by their providing students a means to experience a production from the onset to final performance. In addition, eager students were enriched by having the opportunity to hear from professional actors who shared their individual theatrical journeys. GRTC are leaders in our community in bringing charities together to better the lives of our children in the Valley." - Patti Gribow, Television and Film Producer/Entertainer/Host/Actress "I have seen the excellent work of GRTC through some years of their support and interaction with Ophelia Project, a mentoring program for girls I created, serving 19 schools throughout this valley. It has always been my strong belief that the arts play a vital role in education and the positive development of our youth. GRTC provided many opportunities for the youth I have served through the past 18 years." - Susan Francis, Past President and Chief Executive Officer.
