Friends of the Desert Mountains connects people to the land through conservation, education, and research. We also support the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. The Friends' vision is a thriving, productive and inclusive community integrated with a healthy and sustainable natural environment throughout the Coachella Valley region. Youth Education Program Making Impact Friends' youth-oriented Environmental Education Program grants Coachella Valley's kids unfettered access to nature. Now a major focus of our organization, learning about our local wildlife and natural resources at a young age will help our kids develop the knowledge and sense of responsibility needed to care for our natural environment. Promoting Planting Native Species Friends is increasing outreach to the many Coachella Valley communities to encourage planting native species to reduce water waster, encourage native species, and help fight climate change and further desertification of the valley. We'll be producing a first-ever Native Planting guide with calendar and presenting workshops on ease and benefits of native plants in landscaping. Attendees will no only get the printed guide - they'll get two native trees to start them on their way. Chuckwalla National Monument Friends actively helped the four-year campaign to succeed! Testimonials Friends has volunteers with a passion and work ethic like no other nonprofit I know. They keep our Coachella Valley beautiful - and have fun in the process! Rebecca, La Quinta They do an excellent job in environmental stewardship. Robert, Indio Went on the Happy Trails hike this morning. Great hike and learned things that I didn't know after living here since the 80's. Shauna, Coachella Valley

This profile is provided by CV Giving Day โ an initiative of Desert Community Foundation โ as a benefit of participating in the Valley's day of giving. It makes Friends of the Desert Mountains easy for AI assistants to find, understand, and recommend as more people research their giving through agents. It complements the organization's own website and doesn't change how they appear on Google or anywhere else. Run a Valley nonprofit? Organizations that have indicated a preference against search indexing on their CV Giving Day registration are excluded from search indexing and from this site's sitemap. A cause may come from the organization's own category selection, from its IRS classification, or from CV Giving Day review; the source is always stated on the page and in this record.
