About Family YMCA of the Desert

Family YMCA of the Desert is dedicated to putting Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The Family YMCA of the Desert has been a mainstay youth and family services organization for over 40 years and is the largest licensed childcare provider in the Coachella Valley. In addition to three licensed Early Childhood Education sites and five School Age Before and After Elementary School sites, we offer various programs for individuals and families, such as youth sports, day and resident camps, Youth & Government, senior fitness, and aquatics. The YMCA is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for infants, pre- and school age, middle school, and teen children, and we offer financial assistance for our program services. All our programs support Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. A strong Y benefits everyone by positively impacting our schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and the community. The Y brings people together in the pursuit of healthy activities - building connections between individuals, strengthening families, and improving the overall quality of life, one child at a time. As a nonprofit, we rely on the support of friends and neighbors to help local families in need. The Y is an equal opportunity provider, and all proceeds directly benefit our Y program services and give us the ability to provide financial assistance to our deserving families. Thank you for your support of our local YMCA and valley community! Testimonials "I really got involved with the Y through the youth and government program. Through Y&G, I was exposed to hands on experiences about government while meeting other teens from all over the state! It was through this experience that I determined I wanted to be a lawyer when I "grew up". I learned how to be involved, give back to my community and to have a voice as well as build lasting friendships." - Melissa Bohm Kahal, Deputy District Attorney for Riverside County "The YMCA of the Desert changed my life. It was a pivotal time in my adolescence and I felt a bit lost and unenchanted. A friend invited me to be a camp counselor at Camp Oakes and my mother encouraged it. It made me look at the world differently because I was included at the YMCA for exactly who I was: awkward, funny, shy, and friendly and for who I could become: a leader, a servant, a trailblazer!" - Katie Stice, President/CEO of the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce

About this page โ€” why it exists, and what it does (and doesn't) do

This profile is provided by CV Giving Day โ€” an initiative of Desert Community Foundation โ€” as a benefit of participating in the Valley's day of giving. It makes Family YMCA of the Desert easy for AI assistants to find, understand, and recommend as more people research their giving through agents. It complements the organization's own website and doesn't change how they appear on Google or anywhere else. Run a Valley nonprofit?
