The mission of Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance is to provide a safe, healthy, and enriching environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI) youth of the Inland Empire. Divine Truth Unity Fellowship Church, Inc. is part of a national network founded in 1982 during the HIV and AIDS pandemic. For more than 40 years we have focused our work on the needs of minoritized communities. Our commitment is to address the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our communities. We believe strongly in the worth of all humanity and actively work to help our leadership and members develop the capacity to become equity and social justice champions. Through Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance (RPYA) we focus our efforts on support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex youth, ages 11-26. The mission of RPYA, to provide a safe, healthy, and enriching environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI) youth is in direct alignment with the goals of the LGBTQ initiative to address health inequities. RPYA utilizes our resources to center the lives and experiences of LGBTQ youth of color and other intersectional identities, which supports positive self-identity development. Our program and services are tailored to provide culturally responsive care that seeks to heal trauma among queer and trans youth while addressing gaps in behavioral health services. We seek to bring an intersectional social justice framework to life through community building and holistic youth development. We believe young people develop a sense of belonging and become just leaders when they have authentic opportunities to learn, heal, and lead; space to be vulnerable and strong; tools to understand and navigate the contexts in which they live; and a place to see themselves in and be their full selves with others. We value a community-centered culture that acknowledges adultism and uplifts youth voices. RPYA supports youth engagement and leadership efforts to make schools safer and inclusive for LGBTQ students by pushing for updated policies and practices in schools. We have relationships with 54 Gender & Sexuality Alliances, hosting an annual GSA Summit designed to build their capacity to effect change. For more than 20 years, RPYA has been providing behavioral health education for individuals or family members with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Testimonials , "RPYA runs programs throughout the county that support the grassroots efforts of GSAs in our local schools. Their training helps create safe spaces, not only for youth and young adults but for advisers, their families, and friends. Ultimately it provides LGBT kids protection from bigotry and helps these kids, and their allies provide education in their communities." Local GSA Advisor
