The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to “Enhance the lives of military members and their families in mind, body and spirit through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life.” We assist and serve active duty military members and their families to ease the frequent transitions required during the course of their military service. The ASYMCA’s specially tailored, low-cost or free programs have been designed to lighten the challenges military members and their families face, and to thank them for the sacrifices they make on our behalf each and every day. The Twentynine Palms Branch was established locally in 1992 to assist and aid the active duty families stationed at the isolated Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC). It provides hands-on educational and recreational opportunities; including early childhood development, volunteer opportunities, emergency financial assistance, and numerous community events. Since the ASYMCA receives no government funding, our local programs are only made possible with the generous support of individuals, companies, partners, grants, organizations and foundations. The ASYMCA Twentynine Palms does not duplicate any benefits or resources provided by the military or any other organization aboard the 29 Palms Combat Center, which makes it an invaluable organization to fill gaps left by other services. The ASYMCA has been consistently recognized as a leader in financial responsibility and mission dedication among non-profits. A recipient of Charity Navigator's "Exceptional" rating and a recipient of the Independent Charities of America Seal of Excellence, the ASYMCA has a proven track record of ensuring that every contribution goes to work directly helping us to serve those who serve America. Our tax exempt number is: EIN #36-3274346 How You Can Help: Donate – Since the ASYMCA receives no government funding, we rely solely on donations from individuals, foundations, organizations and community partners. To ensure our participants receive as much as possible from our donors, we continuously strive to keep our overhead costs low. Due to this, we do not have fundraising events. However, we greatly benefit from organizations that believe in our mission and actively fund raise on our behalf. In-kind Gifts - In-kind gifts of goods or services are greatly welcomed by our active duty military personnel and their families. The ASYMCA is always in need of non-perishable food items or hygiene items to support our Pelican Shop Food Pantry and supplies that our numerous other programs can utilize to help offset costs. Become a Volunteer - The ASYMCA is able to do so much with so little because of the selfless volunteers who donate their skills, experience and precious time; with almost 12,000 hours contributed in 2025 alone. We are always on the lookout for energetic, innovative individuals who want to put their talents to work helping us meet our mission. For those looking to take an active role in shaping the future of our organization and its strategic goals, the best way to get involved is by becoming a member of our Advisory Board. To help in any of these ways, or to hear more, contact our Executive Director, Patrick Byrne, at 760-830-7481 or by email at pbyrne@asymca.org today!
About this page — why it exists, and what it does (and doesn't) do
This profile is provided by CV Giving Day — an initiative of Desert Community Foundation — as a benefit of participating in the Valley's day of giving. It makes Armed Services Ymca Twentynine Palms easy for AI assistants to find, understand, and recommend as more people research their giving through agents. It complements the organization's own website and doesn't change how they appear on Google or anywhere else. Run a Valley nonprofit? Organization information is based on CV Giving Day registration records and public IRS records.
What “verified” means: Identity confirmed against IRS records. Participation confirmed against CV Giving Day registration. Public information compiled from the organization's own sources. Organizations that have indicated a preference against search indexing on their CV Giving Day registration are excluded from search indexing and from this site's sitemap. A cause may come from the organization's own category selection, from its IRS classification, or from CV Giving Day review; the source is always stated on the page and in this record.
