FREE SERVICES TO COACHELLA VALLEY RESIDENTS WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (not covered by health insurance) LOCAL CV CHARITY - ALL FUNDS RAISED STAY HERE TO BENEFIT LOCAL RESIDENTS SERVICES INCLUDE: * Lynn De Santis Physical workouts to boost muscle tone, strength, flexibility, & balance - weekly * Mental health therapies (one on one) to offset depression & loneliness - monthly or as needed - dramatically increased demand since COVID * Amy Zendell In Home Services - physical therapies for those bedridden, who are unable to leave their homes * Education Seminars / social interactions - 3 times per year * Mobility aids such as walkers, wheelchairs, scooters * Bighorn Support Items such as cooling vests and portable air-conditioners There is no known cure for MS and the doctors can't identify why people get it.  The doctors know what factors contribute to MS, but not why people get it.  The disease affects each person differently.  Physical therapies are based on each client's physical ability and needs. MISSION: To provide quality of life enhancing services to Coachella Valley residents living with multiple sclerosis. To help our clients live stronger, longer, and to provide educational and social interactions for people with MS, to help them cope with their symptoms and with depression and isolation. Local Coachella Valley residents with doctor verification of Multiple Sclerosis receive free weekly strength training sessions through ACT for MS. Sessions are based on each person's individual needs. Other free programs include circulation therapy, mobility aids - wheelchairs, walkers, scooters; quarterly education workshops / seminars / luncheons; social gatherings (depression is a common side effect after one receives an MS diagnosis); water therapy; chair yoga; in 2022, we added mental health one-on-one therapy support sessions. Testimonials "I know that ACT for MS has extended my life by at least 5 years - the therapies, the camaraderie, the ongoing strength training" - Jim C, client "My doctor told me that I would be in a wheelchair in 2 years. I've been a client with ACT for MS for 7 years now, and although I use a cane, I am still walking. I am not on a walker; I am not in that wheelchair. I thank ACT for MS for their programs every day." Andy M, client "I support ACT for MS for my husband. He had MS and died several years ago. Had there been an ACT for MS for him, I believe he may still be with us" Helma B., donor

About this page — why it exists, and what it does (and doesn't) do

This profile is provided by CV Giving Day — an initiative of Desert Community Foundation — as a benefit of participating in the Valley's day of giving. It makes A.C.T. for Multiple Sclerosis easy for AI assistants to find, understand, and recommend as more people research their giving through agents. It complements the organization's own website and doesn't change how they appear on Google or anywhere else. Run a Valley nonprofit?
