## About IYCCV

Our Mission

The mission of IYCCV (Iyengar Yoga Center Coachella Valley)is to make available the teachings of Iyengar Yoga for the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the people in the Coachella Valley and beyond.

Nurturing Our Community Through Iyengar Yoga!

Our Story
IYCCV (Iyengar Yoga Center Coachella Valley) was created to bring yoga and its benefits to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay for classes. We offer free classes to youth and seniors in underserved communities and to patients recovering from an illness or ongoing cancer recovery. In addition, two (2) free Community Classes are offered weekly, for the community to attend. The classes are taught in English and Spanish in the studio and via Zoom.

Our Impact

In calendar year 2025, IYCCV provided:

• 152 free yoga classes offered in-studio and online, in English and Spanish

• 381 community members reached through free, accessible yoga

• 1,290 services delivered, including Community Classes in English and Spanish, Gentle Yoga for Older Adults, and Women-focused classes, both in-studio and online

These numbers are more than information; they reflect connection, community building, healing, and the shared commitment to making yoga accessible to all.

Our Classes Are Offered Free to All

• Community Class - All Levels

This class is Yoga in Action! Bringing our Community together to practice. A 90-minute class is suitable for students of all levels of practice, and inversions are practiced at a beginner and intermediate level. This class is taught in English and Spanish.

• Gentle Yoga for Older Adults

This class is for our Super Seniors! Students can have little or no experience, but must be ambulatory.  A 60-minute gentle class designed specifically for older adults working on maintaining flexibility, mobility, and balance, focusing on slow, controlled movements, and can be practiced seated or standing with or without a chair. This class is offered in person only.

• Breast Health and Immune System Support - Women’s Class

A 75-minute women-focused yoga class on breast health and immune system support for all women, including those who are living with cancer or are in recovery from systemic treatment. No yoga experience is necessary. This class is offered in person and via Zoom.

• Yoga for Kids & Teens (6-19)

This playful 45-minute Iyengar Yoga asana class blends mindful movement and imaginative activities to help kids develop and increase strength, flexibility, focus, and emotional balance. With caring guidance and a joyful atmosphere, kids gain confidence and practical skills for navigating stress and building lifelong well‑being.

• Yoga for Recovery from Addiction

This 75‑minute Iyengar Yoga class offers a grounding, supportive space for individuals in recovery. Through asanas (postures), breath awareness, and mindful relaxation, participants learn tools to reduce stress, steady the mind, and navigate cravings or triggers with greater ease. The practice cultivates present‑moment awareness, helping shift attention away from rumination and toward a calmer, more balanced state. Over time, yoga can support emotional regulation, improve mood, and strengthen the inner resilience needed throughout the recovery journey. No yoga experience is necessary.  This class is offered in person only.

Testimonials

"When I can leave the challenges and the problems behind for 60 -75 minutes, focusing solely on myself and my physical body, it is a respite from those thoughts and feelings that can keep me from feeling safe and good about myself. The movements of yoga require concentration. And that ultimately helps to shift my focus from those parts that aren't perfect, that perhaps don't work quite like they used to, and instead, raises my awareness of those parts of me that are capable and sufficient. My quality of life is a direct reflection of how I view my physicality. When I feel 'broken' my self-esteem suffers. My quality of life appears 'less than'. Iyengar Yoga reminds me of what works, and what feels powerful. And I can see the shift of energy and capability as time goes on." - ANONYMOUS
