## About Integrated Learning Institute

The mission of the Integrated Learning Institute is to improve the thinking and learning abilities of students with learning problems. We are an established community clinic of educational therapists who hold professional certifications with the National Institute for Learning Development (nild.org). Sometimes it is useful to declare who we are not in order to understand who we are. We are not tutors. Unlike tutoring, where the emphasis is on the content to be learned, our educational therapy modalities are designed to improve thinking and learning processes.

We teach HOW to learn, not WHAT to learn.

We are not special education. Special education seeks to accommodate student weaknesses and modify expectations to allow each student to access as much of the curriculum as possible. The student remains unchanged. The educational therapists at Integrated Learning Institute work to determine the cognitive, perceptual, and/or sensory weaknesses that are preventing the student from learning well in the first place. These weaknesses are then subject to an individualized, intense system of stimulation that strengthens the weak learning modalities.

Over time, our goal is to help develop competent, confident, independent learners. Our students are cognitively changed.
Testimonials
"ILI has been an answer to prayer for our daughter and for us. As a former school teacher myself, I thought that I would get to the bottom of what hindered my child from learning to read and process language. I knew and worked with children who were just "late bloomers". We tried many approaches, waiting for the "bloom". There was much frustration, and tears on both sides, all for very little progress. We truly would take one step forward and two steps back at times. - Debbie Davis
