As a 15-year-old boy who has been in the streets in the community of Mecca and hanging around with the wrong crowd, I felt lost and unsure of myself. When I first talked to Mr. Ortega at the Boy's & Girl's Club, I felt something completely new, peace and safety. I felt welcoming and cared for, I remember the mentor showing me that he genuinely cared, and that made a big difference. At that time, I had trouble loving and caring for myself. The program Joven Noble directed by AJ Reys and Mr. Ortega has helped me understand to see the potential I have even when the people you love puts you down. Now I have friends expect for me to succeed and have a better relationship with my mother. I also have learned to prioritize my education.
