## About Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert is to build and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the biggest possible futures for Coachella Valley youth. Our vision is for all Coachella Valley youth to achieve their full potential. Testimonials
Since 2014, I have been a Big Brother mentor to my Little Brother, Vinsent. My little brother's dad never had the benefit his son now has. That dad will remain in prison for life. But my little's mom can attest to an unquestionable improvement in my little brother's grades and his health since being involved in the program, even though he has a medical limitation and has not been able to be involved in sports. He worked hard to graduate from high school early and has started taking classes at College of the Desert with plans to transfer to a university and study law. As an Attorney, I am proud that my influence, guidance and support has helped this young man succeed and I will continue to do so even after this program as he continues his goal of becoming a lawyer. Big Brother, Walter.

Big Brother David - I met my Little Brother Anthony when he was 13. He lived in a little apartment with his mom and granny barely larger enough for 1 person let alone 3. Anthony was failing EVERY class - 6 F's. Now, at 17, Anthony is passing every class (great grades in most) and is active in his school's ROTC, on the basketball team, and is thinking about and talking about his future. His mom says -he is a completely new person. And all I did was "show up" and spend time with him doing things that I would normally do in my free time. I have my own children and Anthny has become part of our family. My kids love him and are learning to be appreciative for what they have and about giving back! All Anthony needed was "to know that someone was counting on him, and that he could count on someone". That's it. That's Big Brothers Big Sisters .
